METRO 2039 is scheduled for release in February 2027, according to insider AlexandreNGamR, who previously accurately revealed the game’s announcement date.
During the presentation, developers stated that the game will launch “this winter,” but without confirming a specific release date.
The developers described METRO 2039 as a new flagship first-person shooter from 4A Games, known for its strong narrative design.
Players will be taken into the dark heart of post-apocalyptic Moscow, where they will become part of a brutal struggle for the fate of the Metro itself. According to the description, 25 years after the nuclear war, the remaining survivors have been fighting within the deep underground tunnels beneath a poisoned Moscow.
A new authoritarian order led by a fanatical Spartan leader named Hunter has unified the survivors. His regime is described as relying on propaganda and fear, forcing the population into a renewed war for the surface against a dark and terrifying enemy.
