Studios currently owned by Microsoft have built up an impressive list of well known games that have never been released on Steam. In recent years, the American corporation has effectively turned Xbox into a publishing brand and is increasingly focusing on a multiplatform strategy. According to respected insider Jez Corden from Windows Central, Microsoft could address this gap as part of its new approach and finally bring its major titles to Steam.

In an article published on Windows Central, Corden shared that Microsoft is preparing to release a large number of PC games on Steam and is already laying the groundwork for several high profile announcements.

This move could prove truly historic, as even massive hits such as Minecraft and World of Warcraft could appear on the worlds most popular digital storefront.

According to Corden, the following games could potentially be released on Steam:

  • Fable 3
  • Minecraft
  • Prey (2006) (previously removed from Steam)
  • Wolfenstein (2009) (previously removed from Steam)
  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  • Diablo 1-3
  • World of Warcraft
  • Starcraft 1-2
  • Warcraft 1-3
  • Crackdown 3
  • Gears 4
  • Halo Wars 2.

In addition, there are rumors that the Xbox Game Pass subscription could be added to Steam, although it remains unclear how this would be implemented.
