A short gameplay clip from the canceled Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake has surfaced online. The footage comes from the version announced back in 2020, not the iteration that was recently canceled.
The clip was shared by Chandra Kouns, who worked on the project. It shows the Prince fighting alongside Farah in a library, as well as performing wall-to-wall jumps to retrieve the Dagger of Time.
Back in September 2020, Ubisoft officially revealed the remake. However, its first screenshots disappointed fans due to outdated visuals, leading to a delay until March 18, 2021. Things only got worse in 2021. In February, Ubisoft delayed the game indefinitely, and in June announced a new target release window for 2022. As expected, the game never launched that year. In May 2023, Ubisoft claimed the project was still in the conception stage, and by June 2024, it was targeting a 2026 release.
In 2026, Ubisoft officially canceled the remake, stating that it did not meet the quality standards fans deserve, choosing not to release a mediocre product.
At the same time, a presentation leaked online in January 2026 suggested the game was about 99 percent complete, making the decision to cancel it even more puzzling.
The newly surfaced clip comes from the criticized 2021 build. Interestingly, the gameplay remains quite similar to the original 2003 version.
Some fans believe the remake could have been solid with a proper graphical overhaul, as most criticism was aimed at its outdated visuals.
While this short clip is unlikely to change the minds of those who already disliked the remake, it still offers a glimpse at a game that never saw the light of day.

As a Reminder, Rockstar reportedly targeted in third party breach.
