A new game in the Pokémon universe, Pokémon Champions, has received a fresh trailer. The developers revealed key gameplay mechanics and the exact release date.
The game will launch on April 8, 2026. The project will be available on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
Pokémon Champions will follow a free-to-start model — a free download with limited functionality that can be expanded through paid features.
Unlike the mainline games in the series, Pokémon Champions is fully focused on online battles. It does not include an open world or exploration elements.
The main focus is on ranked double battles. The mechanics remain turn-based, similar to classic games.
Players can fully customize their team composition, choosing abilities, natures, and even distributing stat points.
Since the game does not include catching wild Pokémon, players can either transfer their favorites via Pokémon HOME or use the in-game “Recruit” feature.
The trailer also confirmed the return of Mega Evolutions. Some Pokémon will receive new forms and unique abilities not previously seen in the franchise.
Recall that the teams invited to BLAST Slam VII have been announced.
