Nexus Mods owner Victor Folmann has outlined the platform's long-term vision for making game modding far more accessible and convenient for users.
According to Folmann, the service wants to move away from treating mods as individual files that players must manually download, configure, and organize. Instead, Nexus Mods is developing a new architecture that recognizes mods as complete systems.
«For nearly 25 years, this platform has modeled mods as files. Mods are not files. They are systems with dependencies, conflicts, load orders, versioning, and environments. Everything that has frustrated users over the years comes from that file-based approach. That is changing. The platform will understand mods as systems, automatically handling dependency resolution, setup validation, and change deployment to make modding more reliable and much easier to maintain», — Folmann said.
The company also aims to evolve Nexus Mods from a file repository into a fully featured modding platform. Its long-term goal is to let users install entire mod collections with a single click while still providing powerful and flexible tools for creators.
