No Man's Sky has received another free update called Xeno Arena, marking the game’s 35th major content expansion, and it is already live for all players.
The update introduces a new mode inspired by Pokémon, allowing players to engage in turn based creature battles. Ahead of the reveal, Hello Games co founder Sean Murray once again teased the community with a cryptic emoji on social media, sparking widespread speculation.
Players debated what it could mean, from arena style events to multiplayer modes, with some even predicting creature battles. Those guesses turned out to be accurate.
With Xeno Arena, players can now pit their companions against others in tactical battles. The companion system, originally introduced in 2021, has also been expanded, increasing the maximum number of trainable creatures from 18 to 30.
Players are encouraged to explore the galaxy, collect new creatures, train them, and refine their genetics using the Egg Sequencer aboard the Space Anomaly. Chosen traits directly affect combat performance, including behavior and physical attributes.
Winning battles unlocks powerful genetic mutations, improves initiative chances, boosts durability, and increases the ability to dodge attacks. The update also adds arena medals, battle titles, optional daily challenges, and a new NPC called Traveller Iteration Oceanus to help develop strategies.
In essence, it is a полноценний Pokémon style mini game within the universe of No Man’s Sky. Just do not let Nintendo notice.
