NRG kicked off their run at StarLadder StarSeries Fall with a massive upset, defeating MOUZ 2-1 in their inaugural match. This victory earned the team 129 VRS points, significantly boosting their chances in the Major qualification race. According to NRG player Michael "Grim" Wince, the success against MOUZ—a top-two team in the VRS rankings—served as a massive confidence boost for the entire squad.
Evaluating the flow of the match, Grim emphasized that the team managed to translate their high level of play from practice into an official match, though the game also exposed some weaknesses. On Inferno, where NRG had gone undefeated during a month of practice in North America, facing a top European team proved to be a tough test. The squad plans to thoroughly analyze their mistakes on this map.
On Dust2, NRG felt they should have dominated and ended the first half with a crushing lead (up to 12-0), but they dropped several crucial 1v1 situations and three clutches to their opponent. Even losing a CT-side round against opponents armed with Glocks and a single Galil didn't break the team's morale. The players recognized their macro advantage and were able to close out the match for the win.

Despite the significant victory, Grim maintains a pragmatic approach. According to him, the team isn't going to "rest on its laurels"; instead, they plan to keep grinding and take the tournament game by game. At the same time, he is confident: if NRG can beat MOUZ, they have what it takes to defeat any opponent at this championship.
