The developers at NetEase have officially unveiled an ambitious content roadmap titled “Path to Doomsday.” This initiative aims to build hype for the upcoming premiere of “Avengers: Doomsday” through a series of themed updates based on each Avengers film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The first phase kicks off with the 2012 classic — The Avengers
The centerpiece of the update will be a new asymmetrical PvP mode. In it, a team of six players will take on the roles of the original Avengers lineup (Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, and Hawkeye) and face off against a single player controlling a giant boss — Loki.
In addition, players will be able to obtain new MCU skins for Loki and Iron Man, inspired by their designs from the 2012 film.
The free-roam location — Times Square — will undergo significant changes for the next month. Players will be able to watch a montage of the best moments from the final Battle of New York directly in-game. Special zones will allow players to recreate iconic scenes from the movie. Players can use their own MCU skins for characters, but this feature is limited to the original Avengers lineup.
The event starts today, May 1, and the first phase will run until May 28. This is only the first step in a series of themed drops that will guide players through the history of the cinematic universe leading up to the release of the new Avengers film.
