A rare artifact in the history of crossovers between Formula 1 and Dragon Ball has been sold at auction for nearly $80,000.
The promotional Dragon Ball Z x McLaren flag from 1990, illustrated and signed by Akira Toriyama (the creator of the Dragon Ball manga), was sold via the F1 Authentics platform as part of an auction dedicated to the launch of the 2026 season.

Toriyama created this artwork specifically for the collaboration. It features characters such as Goku, Bulma, Master Roshi, Kid Goku, and Krillin alongside the McLaren-Honda MP4/5B — the car driven by Gerhard Berger.
This item, well preserved for over three decades, represents a unique intersection of motorsport and manga, bringing together one of the most famous Formula 1 teams and one of the most influential creators in the world of anime.
