Remedy has shared a fresh look at CONTROL Resonant gameplay, highlighting major changes compared to the original and emphasizing expanded RPG systems and player freedom.

The studio noted that the project features the largest gameplay team in its history, enabling a wider variety of weapons and abilities. Combat is now more open and vertical, moving away from the confined room-based encounters of the first game.

One of the standout features is the shifting gravity mechanic, which sets the game apart. As the developers stated, «I knew when I saw it that we have something really unique and exciting here».

The game introduces the Aberrant, a creature capable of switching between multiple forms as players progress, with the option to choose a preferred form at the start. Meanwhile, both The Hiss and The Mold have evolved into more complex threats with greater enemy variety.

The world is significantly more open, though not fully open-world. Players will also be able to use a grapple hook to traverse buildings and reach vantage points. Multiple save slots have been confirmed for separate playthroughs.

The studio emphasized that «Story has always been at the center of Remedy games, but when it comes to the second to second combat and traversal, we've really gone to town with the gameplay».

As a Reminder, Take-Two Lays Off Head of AI and Restructures Department.
