Legendary game designer Shinji Mikami, best known as the creator of the Resident Evil series, is currently developing a new AAA project set in a fantasy world with his studio Unbound Games. The information surfaced after Tech4Gamers discovered a related job listing.
According to the vacancy for a VFX designer, the studio is looking for a specialist who will create a wide range of visual effects. These include both realistic and fantastical effects such as fire, water, explosions, magic, and impact marks. The description also states that the employee will help design effect concepts and integrate them into the final version of the game. These details indirectly suggest that the upcoming project will have a fantasy setting.

No other details about the game have been revealed so far. However, the requirements mention experience with the Unreal Engine and Unity engines, which may indicate that one of them will be used in development.
This will be Mikami’s first major project after leaving Tango Gameworks. The studio was shut down by Microsoft in 2024, and its assets were later returned by Krafton in 2025.
Although Mikami became famous for horror games, he has also worked in other genres throughout his career. His notable titles include Vanquish, Shadows of the Damned, and the cult beat em up God Hand.
