According to recent social media reports, the next entry in the God of War series may be unveiled later this month. While Sony and Santa Monica Studio are already working on a God of War Trilogy Remake, insiders are pointing to a separate, unannounced project that could be showcased in the near future.

The rumors surfaced during a particularly busy time for the PlayStation franchise. Right after the February 12 State of Play broadcast, Sony surprised fans by shadow-dropping God of War Sons of Sparta, a Metroidvania-style prequel to the series. The game follows a young Kratos and his journey toward becoming a feared Spartan warrior. Despite mixed reviews, the title performed well commercially and ranked among the top 20 best-selling games in the United States for February.

While rumors should always be taken cautiously, the Ghost of Sparta may soon return to the spotlight. During the April 10 episode of the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, host Tom Henderson said he had heard that the next mainline God of War game could be announced sometime in April. Importantly, this project is not the same as the already confirmed God of War Trilogy Remake revealed during the February 12 State of Play.

Original Kratos voice actor Terrence T.C. Carson previously confirmed he would reprise his role in the remake, though he noted that development is still in its early stages. As a result, fans should not expect to see the remake anytime soon.

These rumors align with comments from insider NateTheHate, who mentioned a potential April 16 date for the next State of Play, while stressing that the date remains unconfirmed. This opens the possibility that a new God of War title could appear during a rumored April presentation. Sony has yet to officially announce the next State of Play, so fans will have to wait for confirmation.

Alongside the potential God of War reveal, the next State of Play could also feature updates on other PS5 exclusives. Insomniac Games previously stated it would share more details about Marvel’s Wolverine in spring 2026. The game is set to launch on September 15, leaving ample time for further reveals.

Meanwhile, Sony is collaborating with Amazon on a God of War TV series based on the Norse saga, which entered full production in February 2026. Although early looks at Kratos and Atreus have been shared, the show still does not have a confirmed release window. Between the series and upcoming games, fans of the franchise may soon have plenty of new content to enjoy.

As a Reminder, Rockstar reportedly targeted in third party breach.
