Rumors have started circulating online claiming that Microsoft had allegedly reached a deal with Rockstar Games to secure exclusive cloud streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The reports suggested that this could allow the game to be played on PC through Xbox’s cloud service on launch day.
The rumors were sparked by a report from The Verge claiming that Xbox would offer something unique with Grand Theft Auto VI that would not be available on other platforms. The outlet speculated that this could refer to the game being playable through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
However, Xbox CSO Matthew Ball has denied the reports.
«While it’s great to see the excitement around GTA VI and Xbox, it has also led to some inaccurate reporting. We’re excited for GTA VI to launch on Xbox November 19th, however the game will not be exclusive to cloud streaming nor will it be launching on PC», — he said.
As a result, Grand Theft Auto VI is currently officially announced only for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. A PC version has yet to be announced.
