Following a defeat to GIANTX during the latest LEC Summer Split weekend, Shifters find themselves in a delicate position, starting the season with a 0-3 record. Roster newcomer, French support player Paul “Stend” Lardin, gave a candid interview sharing his frustration over the rocky start and assessing the team's chances of reaching the playoffs.
According to Stend, the start of the season has been extremely difficult. The player expressed deep disappointment over losing to teams that are not considered top contenders. Among the current gameplay issues, he highlighted shaky teamfighting and tempo control, though he noted he does not have a definitive answer for all the setbacks yet. The defeat against GIANTX dealt a particularly heavy blow to team morale, as GIANTX is a direct rival in the race for a playoff spot.
Despite Shifters having struggled since the beginning of the year, Stend joined the team without hesitation. He strongly believed in the project's potential and the individual talent of the roster. It was expected that his arrival alongside Théo “Sheo” Borile would inject a much-needed positive dynamic. However, the support player admits that their synergy with Sheo—whom he previously played with at Heretics—still requires work, as they have not been flawless across their first three BO3 series.
When asked about the team's potential to compete for a spot at the World Championship, Stend emphasized that the focus must currently remain strictly on the playoffs. Shifters' situation is critical: while their fate remains in their own hands, there is virtually no room left for error. To qualify, the squad will have to defeat top-tier opponents and win every remaining game.
This year has been turbulent for the French player, making the Summer Split a crucial opportunity to prove he belongs in the LEC. Beyond club struggles, Stend also commented on the French national team's decision to select Théo “Zoelys” Le Scornec for the support position at the Esports Nations Cup. It was tough news for Stend, who had hoped to secure the spot following his previous season in the league, but he stated that he understands and accepts the selection team's decision.
