Sony plans to gradually stop using the names “PlayStation Network” and “PSN” across all of its products and services. This became known from an internal letter sent to developers, obtained by Insider Gaming.

According to Sony’s updated strategy, the familiar PSN abbreviation is expected to disappear from all official company resources by September 2026. This includes console interfaces, marketing materials, documentation, and external services.

Instead of “PlayStation Network,” the company plans to move toward more unified branding, likely centered around the main “PlayStation” name.

Sony explains the decision as a desire to “properly reflect the breadth of our evolving digital services.” The company aims to simplify and unify all its services under a single recognizable brand, avoiding unnecessary technical terms in the naming of online services.

Reminder: Formula 1 will launch the 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship at DreamHack Birmingham.
