The streaming platform Trovo, which made a strong debut in 2020 as a major competitor to Twitch, is officially shutting down. Tencent, which owns the service, announced a complete shutdown of operations in spring 2026.
The official closure date is April 30, 2026. The website and mobile applications will go offline, and all user data - including stream recordings and chat history - will be permanently deleted.
The decision to shut down comes as a logical result of a prolonged decline in the platform’s performance. In 2025, the total number of hours watched on Trovo dropped by 26.5% compared to the previous year, reaching just 51.7 million hours.
