The cryptocasino company BC.Game has announced its own VRS tournament called the BC.Game Masters, set to take place in Bucharest, Romania, with a prize pool of $50,000.
The question regarding the participation of the organizer’s team, BC Game — whose roster includes Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev — quickly became a heated topic.
VALVE later made it clear that BC.Game’s participation in a tournament sponsored by the company itself is prohibited, as it violates conflict-of-interest rules. Even though the official BC-GAME MASTERS account on X stated that the team and the tournament are operated by different organizations, the team will not participate in the event to avoid any speculation.
A VALVE representative shared their view on the situation with the news outlet HLTV:
We do not distinguish between team title sponsors (i.e., the name of the team includes the sponsor) and the team's ownership, even when these are separate entities
The conclusion is that the rule is based on the principle that a team cannot participate in a tournament if the tournament operator and the team share the same main sponsor. Participation is only allowed when the sponsor is presented in a smaller capacity, for example, as a simple mention on the jersey.
Аll participants of the Rocket League Major are now known.
