At the age of 78, former head of SEGA’s publishing division, Hideki Sato, has passed away in Japan, according to Kotaku.
He joined Sega in 1971 and rose through the ranks from developing arcade machines — including Monaco GP, Turbo, and Star Jacker — to becoming the chief designer behind nearly all of the company’s home gaming systems.
Sato was the driving force behind the creation of legendary consoles such as the SG-1000, Master System, Mega Drive (known as Genesis in North America), Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast.
As a reminder, FaZe Clan are the champions of the Six Invitational 2026.
