Esports Charts conducted a study on the gaming preferences of visitors to the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 for Counter-Strike 2.

The data shows that the Counter-Strike audience is deeply integrated into the broader gaming ecosystem. Only 3.4% of respondents limit their interest exclusively to CS. The remaining 96.6% are actively engaged in other gaming ecosystems.

The largest audience overlap was recorded with League of Legends (37%). This suggests that the hardcore esports community is not divided by genre barriers (FPS vs. MOBA), but is united around major tier-one disciplines.

Interestingly, Minecraft (23.6%) and PUBG: Battlegrounds (17.8%) surpassed even CS’s direct competitor — Valorant (16.2%). It is also worth noting that Valorant and Dota 2 have nearly identical levels of interest among attendees.

“This diversity provides a clear opportunity for non-endemic brands to engage with fans through various touchpoints, as the profile of the average attendee is far more versatile than the stereotype of ‘CS-only gamers’ suggests,” the article by Esports Charts states.

As a reminder, the first footage of Season 2 of the Devil May Cry by Netflix has been revealed.
