According to Windows Central, Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox will mark a major shift for the brand. The console is expected to function much like a Windows 11 gaming PC, featuring a TV-focused Xbox interface on top of the operating system.

Beneath the console UI will be a full Windows environment, allowing users to install third-party launchers such as Steam or the Epic Games Store and run various PC applications. Full backward compatibility is also planned, meaning games from Xbox Series, Xbox One, and earlier generations will remain playable.

A possible launch window was mentioned by AMD CEO Lisa Su.

«‎Development of Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox featuring an AMD semi-custom SoC is progressing well to support a launch in 2027», — Su said.

Microsoft reportedly views 2027 as a tentative target rather than a fixed date, as the final release depends on Windows 11 readiness. Pricing remains unclear, but current Xbox Series X and Series S consoles are expected to receive extended support.

Microsoft is also working with OEM partners such as ASUS to deliver multiple Xbox models across different price points. Overall, the Gen 10 Xbox is shaping up to be the company’s most ambitious hardware platform yet.
