A roughly one minute long video has surfaced online that could be a genuine leak, a convincing AI generated fake, or simply an elaborate hoax. Dataminer cyberleek claims that the footage shows the first gameplay from Grand Theft Auto VI.
The video features Jason, one of GTA VI's protagonists, leaving his house and playing basketball. Due to the poor quality of the recording, it is difficult to properly judge the game's visuals, but users have focused on the animations. In particular, some players claim that Jason's landing animation after a jump is 99% identical to the corresponding animation from GTA V. The character's other movements also do not appear particularly polished.
It is possible that cyberleek simply decided to prank the community and created a convincing fake using their experience with game engines. At the same time, there is a theory that the footage could be part of an "Extended GTA 6 Showcase" reportedly scheduled for Netflix on August 27.
Interestingly, 84.7% of participants in a ResetEra poll believe the leaked footage is genuine.
The same source has also published what is allegedly the full map of the state of Leonida from GTA VI. It features Vice City and the surrounding counties, as well as swamps, bays, and islands. The areas shown include Vice Dale, Mariana, Leonida Straits, Lammox, Kelly, and Leonard. The map's structure resembles the world of GTA V and partially matches several fan made mapping projects.

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have already begun removing posts related to the leaked map and gameplay. This could indirectly suggest that the materials are genuine, although it is also possible that they originate from an older build of the game.
More information about GTA VI could emerge during a special Netflix presentation. On August 27, Netflix, Rockstar, and Take-Two are expected to present an extended version of the trailer at 3:00 PM ET. It is currently unknown whether the presentation is connected to the recent leaks.
⚠️ WARNING! Do not scan the QR code from the leak or connect your crypto wallets to it. The source is asking users to support further leaks through cryptocurrency, so this could be a scam.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
