Streaming platform Twitch is introducing a new punishment system for streamers involved in viewbotting. CEO Dan Clancy announced that Twitch plans to limit concurrent viewer counts on channels that systematically use third-party services to artificially inflate their numbers.

The decision comes after long-running discussions within the streaming community regarding the issue of fake viewers and audience manipulation.

According to the new policy, if the platform confirms the use of bots, the affected channel will receive a temporary cap on concurrent viewers. The limit will be determined based on the channel’s historical data and real traffic figures before the use of bots began. For repeat offenders, the duration of the penalties will increase.

Twitch also confirmed that it will not publicly disclose the names of punished streamers or the exact duration of the sanctions.

We also remind you that the Portuguese Football Federation is launching the first women’s EA FC 26 esports league.
