Ubisoft has finally confirmed the long-awaited Assassin's Creed: Black Flag remake, rumored for years, by releasing the first piece of concept art.
In a blog post, Ubisoft shared the image and provided more details on the franchise's future, including the winding down of post-launch support for Assassin's Creed Shadows.
The company is now firmly focused on the future, though the next all-new entry, Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe, is still some way off. In the meantime, Ubisoft has officially begun acknowledging the upcoming Black Flag remake, expected later this year.

«Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted", «In this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon», — Ubisoft wrote.
The project's official name, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, first appeared last December via a European ratings board listing. Prior to that, internal leaks, fan speculation, and hints from the original game's actor had fueled rumors.
Reports suggest that Black Flag Resynced will be a significant remake of the beloved pirate entry, with visual and gameplay upgrades bringing it closer in quality to last year's Assassin's Creed Shadows.
New story content is expected to expand hero Edward Kenway's life, while the modern-day gameplay sections have apparently been removed, a change that some fans are unhappy about. It will be interesting to see how Ubisoft adapts the new ending, which previously tied together historical and modern-day narratives.
Officially, Ubisoft had only hinted at Black Flag Resynced's arrival, noting that an unannounced game was due before the end of its current financial year (March 31). In January, the game was postponed to the next financial year (ending March 31, 2027) due to a major reshuffle of teams, projects, and studios.
