On the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, Tom Henderson discussed not only the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag but also revealed details about other Ubisoft projects that went through major restructuring, workflow changes, and multiple waves of layoffs across the company.

According to him, the next major release after Flag Resynced will be a new installment in the Ghost Recon series. The game is expected to return to its roots as a darker first person shooter set in a fictional Southeast Asian country, with a narrative tone similar to early Call of Duty Modern Warfare titles.

The remake of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, announced back in 2021, remains in development despite a difficult production cycle. Henderson claims it has not been canceled and is currently targeting a 2027 release. The return of game director David Grivel to Ubisoft appears to have helped stabilize development.

Ubisoft is also continuing work on the next entry in the Far Cry franchise. The project reportedly faced significant challenges and struggled to find its direction, but development is now progressing. Earlier reports suggested that the planned Far Cry 7 was split into two titles, including Blackbird and Project Maverick, an extraction shooter possibly set in Alaska.

As for other projects, Henderson has not yet confirmed rumors about a revival of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but noted that the remake of Rayman Legends is moving forward actively.

As a Reminder, Gears of War movie gains momentum.
