Ukrainian indie studio House of Morok has unveiled Peak or Die, a narrative-driven survival horror game set in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Players will lead an expedition to Brebeneskul, one of the country’s highest mountain peaks, where danger comes not only from nature, but from something far more unsettling hiding in the wilderness.

The developers say the project draws inspiration from real Carpathian landscapes, Ukrainian mythology, and folklore horror. Based on the first details, the game will focus heavily on tension, psychological pressure, and difficult choices during the climb.

“Peak or Die is a narrative-driven survival game in which a team of adventurers ascends a deadly mountain where every decision has consequences. Manage oxygen, food, and team morale while facing moral dilemmas and a ruthless environment. Reach the summit — or die trying.”

Players will need to carefully manage resources such as oxygen, food supplies, and team spirit while making morally complex decisions throughout the expedition. Should you help an injured traveler or preserve your remaining strength? Explore abandoned ruins for supplies or escape before the storm arrives? According to the developers, there are no perfect choices in Peak or Die, only compromises, risks, and consequences.

The concept for the game was born during the charity game jam “Igrovary 2025.” The story revolves around the Carpathian mountain Brebeneskul, and the team plans to recreate real locations from the area in the future, including a lake and a castle.

Peak or Die will feature both Ukrainian and English localizations. The game does not yet have a release date, but players can already add it to their Steam wishlist.

As a Reminder, Forza Horizon 6 celebrates first week after launch with player stats.
