The creation of USA Esports has been announced in the United States. It is a non-profit organization whose main goal is to obtain official National Governing Body (NGB) status from the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

The project aims to create a national structure similar to USA Basketball or U.S. Soccer, giving the esports industry institutional legitimacy. USA Esports plans to overcome the fragmentation of American esports by uniting the professional scene, collegiate leagues, and school-level competition under one system.

The launch is supported by the formation of the USA Esports Alliance, which includes leading professional clubs and academic institutions across the country.

  • Founding teams include: Team Liquid, Cloud9, TSM, 100 Thieves, NRG, FlyQuest, and M80.
  • Academic partners include: University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Kentucky, Texas Christian University (TCU), and Georgia Institute of Technology.

The alliance plans to develop a standardized “path to pro” system, as well as introduce unified safety and training regulations that have previously been lacking in the region.

USA Esports leadership describes the initiative as a “30-year project.” Obtaining NGB status would allow the United States to compete more effectively with countries in Asia and the Middle East, where esports often has strong government support.

In addition to domestic reforms, the organization is expected to represent the U.S. internationally, including at the upcoming Esports Nations Cup.

Reminder: Ukrainian club Leo recently announced an experimental “5+2” CS2 roster.
