Valve has provided an update on the release plans for its Steam Machine console and Steam Frame VR headset. According to a post published on the company's official blog on June 4, shipments of both devices are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026.
The launch was previously expected during the first half of the year, but Valve announced in February that it needed additional time to reassess pricing considerations.
The hybrid PC-console Steam Machine will feature its own certification program called Steam Machine Verified, which closely mirrors the verification system already used for Steam Deck. Any game currently compatible with Steam Deck will run on the new console without issues. The evaluation criteria focus on the out-of-the-box user experience, including proper controller support and satisfactory performance using the default graphics settings.
Meanwhile, the Steam Frame VR headset is designed for high-quality game streaming from a PC while also functioning as a fully standalone computer capable of running games directly on the device. To support this functionality, Valve is introducing a separate certification program called Steam Frame Standalone Verified. The program will assess whether games can operate smoothly in standalone mode without requiring additional configuration.
As a reminder, Dota 2 recently received the 7.41d balance patch.
