Where to Get Water in Subnautica 2

Survival in Subnautica 2 heavily depends on finding a reliable source of clean water early in the game. Although players are surrounded by the ocean, seawater cannot be consumed safely, so keeping your hydration meter filled becomes one of the first priorities.

There are two main ways to restore thirst in the game, though one method is significantly better than the other.

Ways to Restore Hydration in Subnautica 2

Players can replenish their thirst meter by:

  • eating Water Slugs
  • crafting Water with the Fabricator

Both options work differently and come with their own drawbacks.

Eating Water Slugs

Water Slugs are small blue-and-pink creatures commonly found attached to the seafloor and underwater surfaces throughout the game world.

Consuming them directly restores hydration, but there’s a downside: they also reduce your hunger meter. Because of this, Water Slugs are mostly useful during emergency situations while exploring far from your base.

Crafting Water with the Fabricator

The most efficient option is crafting Water through the Fabricator. This recipe only requires one Water Slug and restores +40 hydration.

Unlike eating the creature raw, crafting water does not reduce hunger, making it the safest long-term solution for survival.

Since Water Slugs are relatively common, players are encouraged to collect large amounts before heading back to their lifepod or base. Keeping extra water in storage can make long exploration trips much easier.

Fish such as Geordie can also be brought to the Fabricator and cooked to restore hunger more effectively. However, raw fish can still be eaten in emergencies if players need quick nourishment while exploring.

As a Reminder, NetEase permanently bans nearly 500 accounts in Marvel Rivals over cheating.
