According to new information, the upcoming handheld gaming system from Xbox, currently known under the codename Project Helix, may turn out to be significantly more expensive than expected.

Moore's Law Is Dead, in a recent video, provided a detailed breakdown of the estimated cost of components, including the AMD Magnus chip, GDDR7 memory, and other hardware, and suggested that the price of Project Helix could range from $999 to $1200. He claims that due to the high cost of the RDNA 5 architecture and the large amount of RAM, the next Xbox console will not be able to cost the traditional $500.

Such a price indicates that Microsoft is not developing just a competitor to the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck, but rather a powerful premium device. In fact, it could be a portable gaming PC under the Xbox brand.

Recall that Eldegarde is shutting down only two months after the release of version 1.0.
