Activision has tempered fan expectations by confirming that the upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 releases of the iconic shooters Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be direct ports rather than full remasters.
In a statement provided to Eurogamer, Activision representatives emphasized that the re-releases will be classified as "enhanced" versions, but they should not be considered complete remasters. As a result, the games will not fully utilize the technical capabilities of modern hardware, including the PlayStation 5 Pro.
The company did not provide further details regarding the specific enhancements that will be included in the new versions.
As a reminder, Sony has reportedly returned to a full exclusivity strategy due to the poor financial performance of its PC releases.
