Apex Legends ends support for the original Nintendo Switch

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have officially confirmed that Apex Legends will no longer be supported on the original Nintendo Switch. Support for the 2017 hybrid console will end on August 4.

Season 29 will be the final season for this platform. With the launch of Season 30, the game will no longer be playable on the first-generation Nintendo Switch. From that date, players will be unable to start matches or spend in-game currency.

At the same time, the developers emphasized that all progress, cosmetic items, and purchases remain tied to EA accounts. Players who upgrade to Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to continue playing without losing anything, even if the transition happens after August 4.

Respawn also thanked Nintendo for the partnership and noted that Switch 2 delivers a significantly improved gameplay experience.

It is additionally noted that in some regions, local laws require digital currency to be used within 180 days from the date of purchase.

No changes are currently planned for Apex Legends on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch 2.
