Embark Studios is considering removing the Expeditions system from ARC Raiders altogether. The developers are currently looking for a new and improved approach that could replace the existing mechanic.
Expeditions, which essentially served as character wipes, were put on hold in August following complaints from players. Fans criticized the system for feeling unfinished and argued that progressing through it was not worth the time and effort required. Embark previously said that Expeditions would return in an improved form in early 2027.

However, a recent interview with ARC Raiders executive producer Aleksander Grøndal for PCGamesN suggests that the developers are no longer certain whether the system should return at all.
According to Grøndal, Expeditions require “significant changes,” while the team is still figuring out what direction to take.
«Maybe we’ll scrap the whole system altogether. That is on the table, too. Right now, the team is trying to figure out what the next steps for Expeditions are», — ARC Raiders Executive Producer Aleksander Grondal
We likely won’t learn the final fate of Expeditions until next year. In the meantime, players can look forward to the Frozen Trail update, which launches on October 8 and is shaping up to be one of the biggest updates ARC Raiders has received so far.
As a Reminder, Xbox Game Pass May Lose Day 1 Releases and Cloud Gaming.
