Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced sold more than 2 million copies within its first 24 hours of release. Rather than focusing on player counts or engagement statistics, the publisher chose to reveal a direct sales figure, highlighting the scale of the game's launch success.

The remake launched worldwide on July 9 and arrived with exceptionally high expectations. The original Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, released in 2013, is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the franchise and one of Ubisoft's most beloved games.

According to Ubisoft, the 2 million copies sold represent combined sales across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While the company did not provide a platform-by-platform breakdown, the game was topping the PlayStation and Xbox sales charts in several major markets, including the United States and the United Kingdom, as of July 12. It also ranked first on Steam's Top Sellers chart.

The game also reached a new Steam peak concurrent player count of 104,000 overnight. Meanwhile, its Steam user reviews are currently rated "Mostly Positive," with 75% of all reviews being positive.

The day-one milestone ranks among the strongest launches in the nearly 19-year history of the Assassin's Creed franchise. For comparison, Assassin's Creed 2 sold 1.6 million copies during its first week, while Assassin's Creed 3 reached 3.5 million copies in the same period. However, Black Flag Resynced still has a long way to go before joining the franchise's top 10 best-selling titles, which would require more than 8 million copies sold.

Ubisoft also benefits from a different market environment today due to Ubisoft+, the company's subscription service that gives members access to new AAA releases on day one. Similar to Xbox Game Pass, the service can reduce day-one purchases, which is why Ubisoft has often emphasized player numbers, engagement, and revenue instead of unit sales in recent years. In that context, selling 2 million copies in just one day makes Black Flag Resynced's launch even more impressive.

As a Reminder, League of Legends Classic Launches on July 29.
