The ESL Pro League group stage is underway, with teams just beginning their matches. Ukrainian fans got an interesting matchup: B8 vs FURIA. On one side is a team that has been very inconsistent this season and recently signed a new AWPer with no Tier-1 experience. On the other side is FURIA — a stable Tier-1 team with strong chances of beating many opponents.
However, today things turned out very differently — the “pumas” lost to B8 with a score of 1:2. They did manage to take one map, Overpass, where YEKINDAR delivered one of the best performances of his career, likely playing the best map of his life.
Nevertheless, this did not stop the Ukrainian team. They regrouped on the third map and closed out the series to secure the win. As a result, B8 move to the 1-0 pool, while one of the tournament favorites drops to 0-1. Of course, it is still too early to write anyone off, but this result is quite telling, although the online factor should also not be ignored.
