April 7 will be an important day for fans of the space RPG Starfield. On this day, Bethesda will release the game on PlayStation 5, and the second story expansion Terran Armada will arrive on all platforms.

In addition, Starfield will receive a large free update called Free Lanes, adding many highly requested mechanics and smaller improvements.

Free Lanes is so extensive that some compare it to Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.0, although Bethesda’s head Todd Howard asked not to raise expectations with such comparisons.

Developers had already shared details about the new features, and now they released a trailer to showcase the main updates.

Starting April 7, Starfield players will be able to travel in real time between planets within a single star system without loading screens. For convenience, autopilot is available, and during travel players can talk with crew members, organize inventory, upgrade equipment, or plan their next steps.

Free Lanes will also introduce:

  • world expansion: new locations, activities, random events, side quests, and underground areas
  • ship builder update with new components and modules for customization
  • X-Tech system for deeper crafting, allowing upgrades to equipment and weapons, modification of legendary traits, and improvements to ship components using a new type of resource
  • new enemy features: extra armor, increased mobility, elemental damage, and other enhancements
  • new planetary surface vehicles
  • a new companion
  • a single resource storage for all outposts
  • updated database section in the player interface
  • collectible figurines granting permanent bonuses, similar to Fallout bobbleheads
  • new companions: Muria and mini-bot
  • enhanced Starborn abilities
  • an item carry-over function for New Game+, allowing part of the inventory to be retained for the next playthrough
  • additional photo mode and camera settings

As a Reminder, The Division Resurgence is now available on iOS and Android as a free to play shooter from Ubisoft.
