Announced in December 2025, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic continues to attract attention from RPG fans. The project, described by Casey Hudson as a spiritual successor to the legendary Knights of the Old Republic, is not being developed by Hudson alone — a large team of former BioWare veterans has joined the production.

Arcanaut Studios recently revealed the key developers working on the game. Among them is Dan Fessenden, who previously worked on KotOR, the original Mass Effect trilogy, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: Veilguard, and Anthem. Melanie Faulknor serves as Director of External Development after previously handling localization and production roles at BioWare during the development of Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age titles.

Caroline Livingstone is the Director of Production and Technical Quality. She previously worked as a voice director and producer on all four Mass Effect games, three Dragon Age titles, Anthem, and also contributed to Neverwinter Nights. Ryan Hoyle, who spent more than twenty years at BioWare and worked on both KotOR and Mass Effect, is the project’s Technical Director.

The game’s Art Director is Pascal Blanché, the only major team member not coming from BioWare. He previously worked with Ubisoft, Behaviour Interactive, Warner Bros., and Wizards of the Coast, contributing to titles such as the first Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry: New Dawn, and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Details about the game itself remain limited for now. However, it has already been confirmed that Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is being developed on Unreal Engine 5, with a strong focus on cinematic presentation and spectacle.

For Casey Hudson, returning to the “Old Republic” era has been a deeply personal goal. The developer previously explained that he had wanted to continue expanding the setting for years, but BioWare often prioritized other projects and ideas.

There is still no release date or confirmed platforms for Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic. At the same time, Hudson has already denied rumors claiming the game would not launch before 2030, joking that “he’s not getting any younger.”

As a Reminder, Dota 2 receives balance patch 7.41c.
