Blizzard Entertainment has hosted a special Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight presentation, during which it unveiled new information about the large scale Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4.

The expansion will take players to a brand new region called Skovos, never before seen in the series. The area is inspired by ancient Mediterranean aesthetics, featuring harsh rocky coastlines, majestic marble cities, and ruined temples that convey a sense of decay and ancient power.

One of the core features is the new endgame system called War Plans. It allows players to create custom playlists of five activities. Each mode comes with its own progression path, enabling adjustments to rewards and changes to enemy behavior.

Another highlight is Echoing Hatred, a challenge built around endless escalating waves of enemies. Access requires a rare item known as a Trace of Echoes. The longer players survive, the higher the difficulty and the better the loot.

The expansion also introduces a new item mechanic based on Talismans and embedded Enchanted Spells. Combining spells unlocks grid based bonuses, effectively bringing full equipment sets back into Diablo 4.

In addition, all class skill trees have been reworked. Each class gains more than 40 new progression paths, with over 80 additional customization options overall. The Horadric Cube will also return, allowing players to combine materials and craft items tailored to their preferred playstyle. A fully featured loot filter will be added as well, giving players control over how items appear on the ground.

The Lord of Hatred expansion is set to launch on April 28.

As a reminder, The Creator of SEGA Consoles Has Passed Away.
