The Metro community has been stirred by a wave of new leaks. First, reports suggested that a new entry in the series could finally be revealed next week after years of speculation. Shortly after, claims surfaced online about a massive 120 GB leak allegedly uncovering a canceled version of Metro 4 that was shelved several years ago.
According to users, the leak included more than 20 archive files containing maps, dialogue, character models, and other assets. Several images were also shared on Reddit, said to be taken from a build canceled by 4A Games in 2022.
As described:
«The game was about Hunter and took place from Jan 2033 to Dec 2034. It was fully open world, had a full crafting system with alt ammo types and more. You had an upgradeable NBC suit, and Khan and Bourbon were main characters too».

The discussion around the leak was quickly restricted by moderators due to piracy concerns, and servers sharing the files were reportedly locked down. While the build itself cannot be downloaded, several screenshots have surfaced online. As with any leak, the information should be treated with caution. Even if accurate, it reflects an outdated version of the project that may have been significantly changed or entirely scrapped.
What is confirmed is that 4A Games has been working on a new Metro title since at least 2020. In 2023, reports also indicated that a fully playable version existed following the cancellation of an earlier build.
There are also rumors that the next Metro game could be officially revealed during the upcoming State of Play on April 16.
