Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment is well known for embracing cutting edge technologies to make its games as visually impressive and modern as possible. Because of this approach, the company became one of the first developers to announce integration of the improved PSSR 2 upscaler created by Sony in cooperation with AMD.

The studio revealed that players using the PlayStation 5 Pro will soon be able to use the technology in Control Ultimate Edition and the horror title Alan Wake II.

Developers have not yet shared technical details, but they say the advanced upscaler should significantly improve image clarity during dynamic scenes.

At the moment the only game that supports PSSR 2 is Resident Evil Requiem. In that title the technology already shows impressive results. When running at a native 1080p resolution the image looks as if the game is rendered in 4K. This is achieved while keeping ray tracing enabled and maintaining stable performance above 60 FPS. Control and Alan Wake II are likely to deliver similar results.

In 2026, Remedy Entertainment is also planning to release Control Resonant, and it would not be surprising if the new project launches with PSSR 2 support from day one.

As a Reminder, A Formula 1 driver had Mario Kart installed directly in the steering wheel of his car.
