On August 21, the playoffs will continue at the CS2 Esports World Cup 2026. Following the conclusion of the second day of competition, seven teams remain in the hunt for the championship title. FURIA was the first to reach the semifinals after defeating G2 2-1 the day before. Now, three more quarterfinal series will determine their future opponent and the remaining top-4 participants.
All matches on August 21 will be played in a Best of 3 format, and a defeat will mark the end of a team's tournament run. According to the HLTV schedule, the matches will start at 14:00, 16:55, and 19:50 Kyiv time.
The first to enter the server will be FUT Esports and MOUZ. For Ukrainian fans, this match holds special significance: Ukrainians Dmytro "dem0n" Myroshnychenko and Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov play on the FUT roster.
FUT has already managed to surprise at EWC. In the Round of 16, the team trailed magic after the first map, but mounted a comeback to win 2-1 — 9:13 on Ancient, 13:7 on Anubis, and 13:8 on Mirage.
MOUZ also went through a tough series. The Europeans defeated GamerLegion only on the third map — 2-1, with the teams playing 19:22 on Ancient, and MOUZ coming back from a 2-10 deficit on the CT side on Nuke. One of the main heroes was xelex, who delivered a powerful performance on the third map after a rough showing on Ancient.
At stake is not just a ticket to the semifinals. The winner will play against FURIA, who has already secured a spot in the top 4.
The second match of the day will be the clash between Legacy and Falcons — one of the most intriguing matchups of the quarterfinal stage.
Legacy approaches the series following a major upset: in the Round of 16, the Brazilians swept NAVI 2-0, winning Inferno 13:9 and Ancient 13:2. n1ssim delivered an exceptionally bright performance, finishing the series with 36 frags and a 1.75 rating.
On the other side are Falcons, who are the reigning IEM Cologne Major champions. At EWC, the team confidently dispatched The MongolZ 2-0, closing out Inferno with a score of 13:3 and Dust2 at 13:9. The main star of that series was kyousuke, who racked up 44 frags and finished the match with a 1.78 rating.
This matchup also has its history. In 2026, the teams have already met three times, with Falcons winning two matches. However, the most important encounter went to Legacy — the Brazilians defeated Falcons 3-1 in the grand final of the CS Asia Championships. Now, the teams have a chance to continue this rivalry at EWC.
The winner of this series will earn a place in the semifinals, where they will face the winner of the evening match between Vitality and Spirit.
The main battle of the day is Vitality vs. Team Spirit.
On paper, this is one of the most evenly matched pairs of the tournament. Vitality approaches the quarterfinal after a confident victory over FaZe, while Spirit advanced through the Round of 16 without much trouble against B8. Both teams possess enough firepower to contend for the championship.
Special attention will traditionally be focused on ZywOo. The French superstar AWPer has been demonstrating incredible form in recent months, and his matchup against donk could become one of the main individual storylines of the series.
According to the current world rankings, Spirit is higher at #2, while Vitality sits at #4. At the same time, the teams approach the match with roughly similar results in their last five encounters.
Interestingly, both teams ended up in the same half of the bracket alongside Falcons. Thus, only one of the trio of Spirit, Vitality, and Falcons will be able to reach the grand final through this side of the playoff bracket.
Ahead of the start on August 21, only one semifinalist is already known — FURIA. The Brazilians are waiting for the winner of the match between FUT and MOUZ.
