Cyberpunk 2077 gets major PS5 Pro update with 90 FPS and enhanced ray tracing

Cyberpunk 2077 has received a free update for PlayStation 5 Pro, significantly improving visuals and performance.

Key highlights include:

  • dynamic 4K
  • enhanced ray tracing
  • up to 90 FPS with VRR

«Ready to go Pro, chooms? Experience neon-soaked Night City in major-league quality across three new graphics modes available in Cyberpunk 2077’s free PS5 Pro Update — featuring expanded ray tracing, smoother performance, and PSSR upscaling!», the developers stated.

The update introduces a dedicated PS5 Pro version of the game, optimized for smoother gameplay and improved visual fidelity.

Technical improvements include:

  • support for PSSR, an AI-powered upscaling technology
  • optimized ray tracing and improved cache to reduce shadow popping
  • BVH8 support for more efficient lighting, shadows, and reflections
  • VRS algorithm implementation for better shading performance

Three graphics modes are now available:

  • Ray Tracing Mode with full ray-traced shadows and reflections at stable 60 FPS
  • Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS and up to 90 FPS on VRR displays
  • Ray Tracing Pro Mode with advanced lighting and ambient occlusion running at 40 FPS or 30 FPS depending on display support
