The Cyberpunk 2077 franchise has unveiled a major new tabletop project titled Night City 2045, offering a deeper look at the history of Night City before the events of the video game. The 312 page sourcebook is designed as a comprehensive guide to the setting and its evolution.
Created from the original tabletop game by Mike Pondsmith in the late 1980s, Cyberpunk has grown into a major multimedia universe. Following the success of Cyberpunk 2077, interest in the Time of the Red era has increased. CD Projekt Red is currently developing Project Orion, but it is expected after the next Witcher game. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk RED and other tabletop projects continue expanding the lore.
Night City 2045 is set roughly 30 years before the game and focuses on the aftermath of the Fourth Corporate War, known as the Time of the Red. It shows how Night City was rebuilt after major corporate and nuclear devastation, with events like the Arasaka Tower attack treated as recent history.
The book details 24 districts, numerous gangs and security groups, and over 600 locations, making it one of the most detailed guides to the world. Developed by R Talsorian Games in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, it fills a 30 year gap in the timeline and expands the franchise’s tabletop universe.
