The developers of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS have announced a major update to one of the game's core gameplay mechanics. Traditional smoke screens will soon become fully interactive, featuring new physics-based interactions with the environment.

The key change is that smoke will no longer behave as a static visual effect. Instead, players will be able to dynamically influence smoke clouds through various external factors:

Vehicles and other forms of transportation will disperse and push smoke aside as they move through it.
Grenades, C4, and other explosive devices will instantly clear smoke within the blast radius of the explosion.

The rollout of interactive smoke is scheduled for later this month and will be released in two stages across platforms:

  • PC: June 17
  • Consoles: June 25

The update is expected to significantly affect tactical gameplay, as smoke grenades have long been one of the most important tools for cover, rotations, and revives in PUBG.

Reminder: A non-canon antihero portrayed by Peter Sarsgaard will appear in Season 3 of The Last of Us.
