Blizzard has released Diablo IV on Nintendo Switch 2, fulfilling its promise to bring the game to Nintendo's new console. The game is priced at $/€70 and is available as the Age of Hatred Collection, which includes both major expansions, Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred. They introduce new classes, locations, story content and a large selection of additional activities.
Ahead of the launch, Blizzard published answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Switch 2 version and detailed the port's features.
Diablo IV offers two graphics modes on the console:
Quality Mode targets 30 FPS. In handheld mode, the game runs at 1080p, while connecting the Switch 2 to its dock increases the resolution to 1440p.
Performance Mode delivers 40 FPS at 1080p in both handheld and docked modes. However, achieving 40 FPS while the console is docked requires a display with a refresh rate of at least 120Hz.
Blizzard has also implemented support for several Nintendo Switch 2 features. Players can use the touchscreen, connect a keyboard and mouse via USB, take advantage of controller vibration and use the GameChat feature.
However, Diablo IV does not support the mouse mode available through the Joy Con 2 controllers.
The port also features cross play and cross progression. After linking a Battle.net account, players can continue their progress from another platform. In game purchases are also synchronized across systems.
Diablo IV requires a constant internet connection, but a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is only necessary for certain activities.
Without an NSO subscription, players can access the campaign, side quests, open world activities, local co op on the same screen, leaderboards and seasonal progression.
An NSO subscription is required for PvP and encounters with other players in the shared open world.
A new season of Diablo IV is also launching today. This gives Nintendo Switch 2 owners an opportunity to jump into Sanctuary, experience the new content and prepare for the upcoming release of Diablo V, which is currently planned for 2029.
