Hytale’s first update after launch introduced a feature many players had been eagerly waiting for. Dinosaurs and the Dino Jungle, also known as the Ancient Jungle biome, have officially entered the game. This hidden region offers far more than just dangerous enemies. It contains rare loot, mysterious creatures, and the remains of a long forgotten civilization. While dinosaurs can currently be fought, riding them is not yet possible.
Locating the Dino Biome in Hytale
Finding the Dino Biome requires some careful exploration. Players must head to the volcanic biome and examine the map for small circular yellow markers. These markers usually indicate volcanoes, each hiding a large treasure chamber at its core. Reaching these areas can be risky, especially without creative mode.

The Dino Biome itself generates underground and only appears beneath these volcanic zones. After crossing a river of lava that blocks the entrance to the Ancient Jungle, players will quickly realize that an entirely separate ecosystem exists beneath the surface.

Compared to regular underground areas such as caves, frozen tunnels, submerged locations, or ancient ruins, the Dino Biome is much more spacious and easier to move through. Within this environment, players can encounter creatures like Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Velociraptor, Pterodactyls, Archaeopteryx, as well as aggressive carnivorous plants known as Man Eating Venus Fly Traps.

At the current stage of development, dinosaurs cannot be domesticated. Players will need to wait for future updates before they can be used as mounts or brought into combat above ground.
Despite this limitation, the biome offers plenty of reasons to explore. Scattered throughout the area are ruins left behind by an ancient civilization, many of which provide excellent locations for establishing a base inside the Dino Biome.

Numerous hidden chests can also be found across the region. Most of them contain Thorium or Adamantite tier gear, making exploration especially rewarding.
In addition to loot, players will come across unique resources such as Jungle Logs, Pink Blossom Flowers, and Talt Red Rafflesia. These materials currently have no exclusive recipes or special uses. However, since Hytale remains in Early Access, it is recommended to mark the biome with a portal for convenient fast travel once new crafting options become available.
For now, Jungle Logs and the stone blocks found within the Dino Biome can only be used for basic construction, as they cannot yet be refined into other materials.
