During Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Bethesda Softworks and id Software unveiled the first story expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Revelations is expected to be the game's only major DLC and continues the story of the prequel to DOOM and DOOM Eternal.
The expansion launches on July 7 for all platforms where the base game is available. As previously teased by game director Hugo Martin through concept artwork, the DOOM Slayer will once again descend into Hell. This time, however, players will explore frozen wastelands instead of fiery volcanic landscapes. The icy environment does little to slow down the demonic hordes, which remain just as relentless as ever.
The DLC's biggest gameplay addition is a spear that can be equipped in the left hand in place of the shield. The weapon allows players to parry certain attacks, unleash wide-reaching strikes, and overcome environmental obstacles. Different spearheads can be swapped on the fly, encouraging players to adapt their combat style for maximum effectiveness.
