During the semifinals of the RLCS 2026 Paris Major, Epic Games and Psyonix revealed a long-awaited technological upgrade: Rocket League will be moved to the modern Unreal Engine 6.
Originally, Rocket League was built on Unreal Engine 3. The outdated architecture of that engine has long limited the developer’s ability to deliver frequent updates and made it harder for new developers to adapt to modern tools such as UE5 workflows.
A short gameplay clip showcasing Rocket League running on UE6 was also presented, featuring near-photorealistic visuals. However, no exact release timeline for the upgraded version has been announced, suggesting a potentially lengthy development process ahead.
Despite the excitement, the announcement has raised concerns among players about potential changes to the game’s physics. Since vehicle-ball interaction is the core of Rocket League’s gameplay, even minor adjustments could significantly impact the competitive community’s experience.
As a reminder, Made in Thailand won the PUBG Global Series 2026 Circuit 2 Series 1, while Natus Vincere finished in 13th place.
