The Unstable event in Fortnite and a Sonic the Hedgehog crossover comic have seemingly confirmed that leaked key art for Chapter 7 Season 4 is genuine. The artwork features numerous iconic characters from different gaming franchises, matching the season's apparent focus on what Fortnite calls "Gaming Legends."
The Unstable event recently took place in Fortnite and significantly changed the Battle Royale map. The event lasted around four minutes, after which the Zero Point disappeared and was replaced by a giant game cartridge. The water surrounding it became heavily glitched, while the cartridge itself displayed the names of several classic games: Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac Man, Tetris, and Mega Man. можна було побачити назви ретроігор Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac Man, Tetris та Mega Man.

Previous teasers had already suggested that most of these characters would play an important role in Fortnite Override. Mega Man, however, remained only a rumor, as he had previously appeared only in leaked posters.
On August 14, artwork that was reportedly intended to be the key art for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 appeared online. Alongside the characters referenced during the Unstable event, the image also featured Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Ryu and Blanka from Street Fighter, and several other gaming icons.
The Fortnite community was initially divided over whether the artwork was authentic. On one hand, it was extremely detailed and included elements that had already appeared in previous leaks, including the giant cartridge. On the other hand, some characters looked unfinished or out of place. Pac Man, for instance, was shown without his eyes.
However, the following day, a Sonic the Hedgehog x Fortnite comic appeared at the Chaos Hunt fan event in New York City. Its cover showed Sonic and Shadow wearing exactly the same armor and shoes seen in the leaked artwork. Sonic was also directly referenced during the in game event, providing another major indication that the leak was legitimate.
As a result, the evidence increasingly suggests that the artwork published on August 14 was genuine. Final confirmation was expected with the premiere of the new season's trailer, which was scheduled for August 16.
