Esports Foundation, the organizers of the Esports Nations Cup (ENC), released an official statement announcing the complete termination of their cooperation with the Korea Esports Association (KeSPA).
In their statement, Esports Foundation said that a few days ago they had formally informed KeSPA about the невозможність continuing joint work within ENC 2026. EF explained this decision by noting that KeSPA is heavily focused on preparing the national team for participation in the Asian Games.
Esports Foundation also confirmed their intention to act independently in forming the South Korean national team. Over the coming week, EF will directly contact players, coaches, and members of the Korean esports ecosystem.
The organizers insist that in their system, coaches are selected by managers, and players are selected by coaches based solely on sporting merit rather than bureaucratic processes.
However, when competing at ENC, representatives of Korea will not be allowed to use the name “Team Korea” or the title “National Representative.” This was previously stated by the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC).
As a reminder, a FIFA 25 tournament was held at the Sumy pre-trial detention center.
