Following the launch of pre-orders for Gothic 1 Remake by THQ Nordic, IGN released an exclusive preview showcasing gameplay from the updated version of the 2001 RPG classic and highlighting its key features.
According to the preview, the remake will feature a more detailed and expanded story. While the core narrative and atmosphere remain faithful to the original, players can expect additional storylines and quest chains that provide deeper insight into the state of the Valley of Mines.
One of these quests, shown in the video, involves a water mage named Myxir. Although he appeared in the original game, the remake allows the Nameless Hero to assist him in mastering a new spell, which requires a journey to the coast near the colony.
The preview also confirms that Alkimia Interactive has significantly expanded the role of Orcs. Players will be able to build relationships with them, complete their quests, and even learn their language — features that were not present in the original Gothic.
Additional improvements include more female characters and new gameplay mechanics such as climbing. At the same time, the developers are not aiming for a complete overhaul. As the IGN journalist noted, they intend to preserve the “slow-paced early 2000s action RPG feel” while enhancing the experience with modern visuals, improved controls, and a more user-friendly interface. The game may appeal more to longtime fans than to a younger audience.
Gothic 1 Remake is set to launch on June 5 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.

As a Reminder, Registration opens for ESEL FastCup in Mobile Legends.
